Pinging Results - General Failure

Recently I Have Experienced an error in my workstation while pinging the MediaWiki Domain the Run command says " General Failure "
So I research about this error in Google (no. 1 search engine) - there are many results but the common word for the solutions of this error is "NIC".

what is NIC?- NIC or Network Interface Controller (Also known as network interface card, network Adapter, LAN adpater). IT is a computer hardware component that connects a computer to a computer network. Mostly computer now a days are already have a network adapter built-in but for the old ones you cannot find any NIC.

For my own Troubleshooting:

1) Check the cable if it is technically crimped.
2) Check the ipconfiguration through RUN.
3) Ping Localhost or ping 127.0.0.1 this is a test for NIC. If the test fails then your network Adapter is bad.

Possible solutions:

1) Ran WINSOCK Fix to repair the TCP if in case your TCP is in bad condition.
2) Try Booting with "Safe Mode with Networking" and ping from there. If this test works then most likely the cause of the error is the misconfiguration of firewall.
3) If the step #3 doesn't work. The only solutions of your problem is that bring you your computer to the nearest Computer Repair Shop or your buy another LAN card and test if it will solve the problem.

Updated based from what I have experience recently. Update date :  January 10, 2012

Solutions :

1)  Re-crimp the RJ45 cable that are currently attached to you LAN card. So if this will solve your problem, the main error or problem is not your LAN card it is your cable, it may be a loss contact when crimping.
2) There are Network or IP address conflict in your network(this step is for a company based, not really work for home based).
