One of the best structure in cebu is the new Mactan bridge or properly known as Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

The bridge has a total length of 1237 meters (4058. 40 feet) with a center span of 185 meters (606. 96 feet) and for the record, Marcelo Fernan Bridge is one of the widest and the longest bridge spans in the Philippines according to the wikipedia.com.

Marcelo Fernan Bridge was opened in august 1999 to decongest the traffic from the older mactan bridge. Heavy traffics are the biggest problems for tourist and travelers abroad or even the local tourist. In order to eliminate this problem they planned to create another bridge and they named this bridge after Senator Marcelo Fernan a great political figure from Cebu City.

Marcelo "Celing" Briones of commonly known by the cebuano as Marcelo Fernan was a lawyer and the great filipino figure from Cebu. Marcelo is the Filipino and the only Cebuano that have served both Cheif Justice of the Supreme Court and as Senate president. He is also the third filipino to have headed the both the judicial and legislative branches of the goverment.
